Today, I decided to step down.
Things have been extremely rough the past couple of weeks. Working 2 different stores, short-handed, and management allowing so many things slide that I just cannot progress as a manager.
I was sent here to develop, not put up with all this bullshit. This store is not a store to develop in, it is a store where you go to have your career die.
I just don’t understand how so many things can be done the way they are. Why do we have an employee handbook, with our rules and regulations when everything in there isn’t being enforced? Why do we have spec sheet for things when they are not going to be followed? How the hell can I develop as a manager when my developing manager are not even doing what they are suppose to do!!
It’s no wonder that the word “respect” is not given here, because there is none. Listen, I don’t want to be your friend, I’m here to do a job and then go home. But it seems the biggest attribute for some managers is to be the employees friend and to make sure their liked before their boss. I can’t do that. I don’t care if you like me, I don’t care if I’m your friend, I’m your co-worker and manager, and that’s it.
Why is that so hard to understand for some people? Why is it so important to be “liked” and have them as “friends”?
